MAKASUTU PARK
Enjoy a trip to Makasutu Cultural Forest, a private ecotourism woodland reserve located in Kombo Central District, on the west coast of The Gambia. Spanning 405 hectares, this nature park encompasses the Mandina Bolong, a tributary of the Gambia River. The protected wilderness offers a pristine mix of riverine, palm and hardwood forests, mangrove creeks, savannah, and salt-flat ecosystems. Here, you will spot troops of baboons, a variety of bird species, and enjoy the natural beauty of the forest.
During the tour, visit the fortune teller and meet a local wine tapper who will offer you a taste of fresh palm juice. You’ll also witness a palm tree climbing demonstration—and if you’re adventurous, you can even give it a try! A boat trip through the serene mangroves is included, as well as a buffet lunch accompanied by a lively performance from the Jola cultural group for full-day tours.
